What is Affordable Housing?

Women in Social Housing is a network which supports women working in all sectors of Affordable Housing, but what is social and affordable housing.

Affordable housing is a term that includes social rented and intermediate housing provided to specific households whose needs are not met by the market. This is housing that is affordable. Rents are kept low through state subsidy. It is generally provided by councils and not for profit organisations such as housing associations.
