Women In Social Housing (WISH)
a unique group for women with careers in the affordable housing sector.
Our members include women working in housing associations, local authorities, contractors, consultants, solicitors and house builders. Between us we share a wide variety of knowledge and experiences.
The two major issues that we want to address are:
- encouraging more women to choose careers in the affordable housing and construction sectors when they leave school or college
- addressing career progression for women already in these sectors
WISH members meet socially four times a year. Our meetings give members opportunity to network in friendly and relaxed environments. These events include a range of inspirational guest speakers who present to us on a variety of interesting professional topics.
WISH events are usually held in central London locations. In March each year we organise an event linked to the Chartered Institute of Housing South East annual conference and exhibition in Brighton.
Our events are usually very popular and capacity at the venues that we use is usually limited. This means that not everyone who wants to attend can do so although we do hold a waiting list. We recommend that you register your intention to attend as soon as possible after new events are announced.
We are proud of our first major project, our schools project which launched in 2007, aimed at "giving something back to the community".
We welcome new members to WISH. If you wish to join us please complete the application form on this web site by clicking here.
Although WISH is based in the UK, we also welcome contact from women whose work is associated with affordable housing, who are based in other countries of the world.
Add this website to your list of Favourites and please come back again to find out more about our projects, plans and future events.
