WISH North East Launch - Tips from the Top

The WISH North East board members are delighted to invite you to our official launch event of the Women in Social Housing North East network.

Come along for a free breakfast and hear all about why we have set up this network, how you can get involved in what we are doing and hear some inspiring stories from 2 of the regions leading women in social housing, Angela Lockwood and Tina Drury.

There will be opportunities to network with other women in the sector and help us shape the focus of the WISH North East events and activities over the coming year.

Angela Lockwood, Chief Executive, North Star Housing Group (based in Stockton on Tees)

Angela has worked in social housing for over 30 years and has been Chief Executive of North Star for nine years. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and RSA, and holds an MBA from Newcastle Business School. Angela is Chair of the National Housing Federation North East CEO group, is a school governor and a board member of Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust. Angela is also a member of the burgeoning Teesvalley offshoot of Northern Power Women.

North Star holds Investors in People Platinum accreditation, and was recently voted number one landlord in the country by their peers (24housing magazine). They achieved 3* in the Sunday Times Best Companies list - which describes them as extraordinary.

Tina Drury, Managing Director, Your Homes Newcastle

Tina has worked in the social housing sector, in the North East, for nearly 30 years. She took up the post of Managing Director at Your Homes Newcastle in June 2016, the City Council's housing company.

Your Homes Newcastle remains the biggest housing ALMO (Arms’ Length Management Organisation) in the country and manages around 28,000 homes across Newcastle, employing around 800 staff. It also provides a range of services that support tenants, including Newcastle Furniture Service, the country’s leading furniture rental service for social landlords. Tina is leading a transformational change programme at YHN with the aim of reshaping the business so that it remains relevant and is in the best possible position to deal with the challenges it faces.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Housing Tina was also an Independent Police Authority member for 8 years.
