Leeds Federated is a housing association with around 4,300 properties across Leeds, Wakefield and North Yorkshire. Our mission is to enable the maximum number of people to access and live sustainably in good value, affordable housing.

Leeds Federated is continuing to develop new housing which offers value for money for the organisation and is affordable for our customers.  We are committed to delivering 1,500 new affordable homes over a ten-year period.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Development Coordinator to join the Development Team and provide sales support.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Taking handover of properties and preparing packs and certificates ready for sale completion
  • Monitoring and assisting with defects
  • Updating websites to show available sites and properties
  • Dealing with initial enquiries for shared ownership properties and assessing applications
  • Assisting with viewings and valuation appointments
  • Arranging signing and sealing of legal documents
  • General administration associated with sales related activity
  • Making sure all records and systems are kept up to date

  • Sales or property related experience would be desirable but is not essential as training will be provided.

Main Purpose:

  • To assist with the coordination and administration of development and asset related activity to ensure good quality new homes are provided in line with the Association’s Corporate Plan and Development Policy.
  • The role involves liaison with stakeholders, such as contractors/developers, funders, local authorities and consultants, with internal departments within Leeds Fed, and most importantly with prospective/current customers of the new homes.
  • To work within the Association’s Equality and Diversity policy and ensure that your Health and Safety responsibilities are carried out in line with the Association’s Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
  • To ensure that the Value for Money and Procurement policies are applied to your duties and activities, as appropriate, and that you contribute to the organisation’s culture in this regard.

 

Key Accountabilities:

1 Development Activity

  • Support and assist team members in the identification and delivery of the Association’s development programmes
  • Support and assist team members in the sale of shared ownership properties and other sales initiatives, including Right to Acquire and Right to Buy and in the disposals of existing Leeds Fed properties as required.
  • Provide coordination and administration support for development and asset related activity as required. This includes managing and maintaining accurate data on the Association’s CIVICA housing management system.
  • Follow Leeds Fed’s Development policies and procedures to meet project deadlines and ensure internal/external customer involvement
  • Support and assist the Association’s work on Asset Liability Registers and Asset Return Models
  • Carry out research and investigation work for development and asset related activity as required
  • Be a critical team member of the development to help the department fulfils its objectives. Work with members of the Development team to provide support on projects as required.

 

2 Project and Work Management Support

  •  Assist with appointment and management of consultants (solicitor, valuers, estate agents, Employers Agents)
  • Effective liaison and communication with internal and external customers as required
  • Liaise with third party contractors to ensure delivery and targets met
  • Attend appropriate Development meetings
  • Keep up to date with regulation and legislative changes affecting these schemes/sales
  • Assist in the management of projects or aspects of projects as allocated by the Development Manager
  • Provide assistance and support at site meetings, design team meeting and handover meetings
  • Research, investigate and visit development opportunities independently to gather critical information to inform decision making
  • Manage the defects process with the Association’s contractors and house builders
  • Assist with the management and appointment of the Clerk of Works and help tender other consultant appointments such as solicitors and architects as necessary

 

3 General Administration

  • Ensure all documents are filed or archived and information kept confidential
  • Assist the Head of Development/Development Manager with any policy issues designated to your area.
  • To participate in appropriate forums and contribute to the wider Development service.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of key internal meetings that involve development papers and schemes
  • Assist with adding new properties to Civica / Housing Management system
  • Update and maintain the Development Management System, electronic files and any action logs

 

4. Legal and Statutory Obligations

  • Ensure that all work fulfils the Association's legal and statutory obligations (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Regulations, Building Regulations and Gas Safety Regulations, Housing Acts, Race Relations, Equal Opportunities and Sex Discrimination Laws

 

5 Corporate Role

  • To consistently meet the organisations strengths in your day to day work
  • To work within the organisation’s Health and Safety policies and procedures taking personal responsibility for your own wellbeing
  • To work within the VFM policy and consider wider business sense in all aspects of your role

  • To positively contribute to Leeds Fed’s journey ensuring the development of continuous improvement across the organisation
  • To be responsible for your own learning and development and actively participate in identified training and engage with the performance management system
  • Communicate effectively and work productively with all staff
  • Carry out a regular check of the website and intranet particularly in relation to your own areas of the business.
  • Take responsibility for making sure that information logged is up to date and relevant.
