Campbell Tickell are proud to be recruiting for the role of Chair at Berneslai Homes.

Berneslai Homes is a successful, award winning social housing provider and employer, managing over 18000 homes on behalf of Barnsley Council with a strong community focus across a borough having a unique blend of rural, town centre, and urban housing.

Like all social housing providers, we currently face a number of significant challenges to our tenants and the way we manage our business.

As Chair, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we progress further along our ambitious transformation journey. You will play a key part in ensuring that we continue to meet the challenges and capitalise on opportunities presented, whilst ensuring our customers remain involved, engaged and at the heart of all we do. You will play a pivotal role in governing and setting the strategic direction for the organisation, evaluating our progress against objectives, and developing and leading an engaged and effective Board.

You will be a confident and inspirational leader with the credibility that allows you to engage and influence in and outside the organisation. You will be an experienced non-executive with strong strategic, financial, and commercial skills; possess high emotional intelligence; and be someone who sees leadership as a shared endeavour, working best in an open and transparent culture. A background in social housing is not essential although an understanding of and connection to the South Yorkshire region will be an advantage.
