Board Members - Connect Housing, Leeds / Dewsbury

Do you share our vision for a more equal society? We are recruiting to a number of voluntary positions to join our Board. We are a well-regarded not-for-profit housing and support provider operating across West Yorkshire with a vision for a more equal society where a good home, a good neighbourhood, good health and good prospects are within everyone's reach.

We are a well-regarded not-for-profit housing and support provider operating across West Yorkshire with a vision for a more equal society where a good home, a good neighbourhood, good health and good prospects are within everyone’s reach.

We work towards this vision by the provision of a wide range of services that really make a difference to people, about which you can see more detail in the application pack. As well as housing for rent and sale, we have mental health, domestic violence, homelessness and dementia services – oh and a café! There has never been a better time to join the Board of Connect Housing.

We are undertaking a comprehensive business transformation process including the re-platforming of our I.T systems, re-branding, a new approach to organisational development and customer care as well as doubling our development of new homes.

You do not need to have previous Board experience to join us; what we are looking for are people with sound judgement, integrity, a strong commitment to team work, the ability to both support and challenge others, think strategically and be open to new ideas.

We are particularly looking for candidates with a professional background in one of the following:

  • ICT strategy and operational activities/digitisation
  • Strategic Finance and Treasury Management
  • Property and Asset Management

The role of a Board Member is a fascinating and rewarding one. In return for sharing your skills and time with us, we will offer you training, personal development opportunities and the chance to develop creative solutions to current issues. We will also pay expenses.

We positively encourage people from all backgrounds to apply and this includes candidates from different socio-economic backgrounds, young people, those who have a disability and those from the BAME community. The expected time commitment is four Board meetings per year (meetings are held in Leeds/ Dewsbury on Wednesdays at 6pm) and two full strategy days a year. The Board also has two sub-committees which meet two to four times a year.
