Executive Director of Operations £105k
Salford, Greater Manchester

Salix Homes is a multi-award winning social housing provider, with around 8,500 homes across Salford. We’re a not-for-profit charitable organisation which puts our customers at the heart of everything we do – from investing in our homes and communities, to how we go about providing our services. Our determination to place building safety and the customer voice at the heart of the business demonstrates our deep commitment to our customers’ safety and views.

An established, confident and forward-thinking business, with a strong and positive forward plan, our recently launched corporate strategy responds to a combination of global challenges, changes in consumer behaviour and our determination to help tackle the housing crisis.

We believe we can find new and better ways to do things: digital services, technology built-in, providing much-needed new homes, and finding innovative solutions to complex longstanding issues such as homelessness.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join us and play a leading role in strategic policy design and delivery, as well as the development of new thinking. Reporting to the recently appointed Chief Executive, and as a key advisor to our Board and Committees, you’ll be accountable for driving transformation and change programmes including innovation, communication, people, values and culture.

With direct responsibility for the management of our built assets, you’ll oversee maintenance and repairs, income and customer engagement, neighbourhoods and environmental services as well as business development; and it goes without saying that the highest expectations of customer service runs through them all like the proverbial stick of rock.

Candidates will have extensive experience at Director level, almost certainly within the housing sector, and a good current knowledge of the legal and regulatory context within which we operate would be a distinct advantage. Experience of managing change, overseeing budgets and driving continuous improvement are a must, and you need to be able to interpret and use complex financial and other types of data. It’s important that you can exemplify our organisational values, and that you share our absolute commitment to delivering great customer service.

In return you’ll have the opportunity to make a valuable strategic contribution, working across a wide range of issues – it’s the complete professional development role for an aspiring leader.
