Independent Chair - Berneslai Homes

Berneslai Homes is the housing company that manages over 18,300 homes on behalf of Barnsley Council with a strong community focus across a borough with a unique blend of rural, town centre, and urban housing.

Like all social housing providers, we currently face a number of significant challenges to our tenants and the way we manage our business. As Chair, you will play a key part in ensuring that we are equipped to meet these challenges and capitalise on opportunities presented, whilst ensuring our customers remain involved, engaged and at the heart of all we do. You will play a pivotal role in governing and setting the strategic direction for the organisation, evaluating our progress against objectives and developing and leading an engaged and effective Board.

Probably with a background in social housing you will be a confident and inspirational leader with the credibility that allows you to engage and influence in and outside the organisation.

You will be an experienced non-executive with strong strategic, financial, and commercial skills; possess high emotional intelligence; and be someone who sees leadership as a shared endeavour, working best in an open and transparent culture.
