Reason for the vacancy
Following the successful implementation of a professional procurement function, (currently of 5) we are seeking a Procurement Support Officer to join our busy procurement team.
As a registered Provider of social housing we procure a wide range of supplies, services and works Contracts which include for example, repair and maintenance services to our properties, new build projects, consultancy services, IT services, fleet supply and services, waste management services, void properties works, grounds maintenance services, pest control services, etc and are subject to the requirements of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
This role is a permanent position on a full time basis working 37 hours per week, based in our modern head office in Birkenhead. The office is easily accessible from most transport links with just a short walk from Hamilton Square train station and local bus routes. Free parking is provided to staff either on site or nearby.
The role
The role of Procurement Support Officer reports directly to the Procurement Officer.
The overall purpose of the role will be to provide operational support to the Procurement team with professional sourcing, purchasing and Contract Management.
Previous experience in the procurement of a range of goods, services and works is preferred. However, we are looking for someone who is positive and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in procurement with good communication skills, highly motivated, with the ability to build positive relationships, with the aim of achieving best value for money.
Knowledge of public sector procurement is advantageous but not essential;
Experience of using e-procurement systems would be an advantage
