Benefits of being a WISH Board Member

by Kathryn Grundy, Design Associate, WWA Studios and WISH London Board Member

Volunteering on the board for Women in Social Housing is fulfilling in a multitude of ways. I feel like I have been given a voice, and an opportunity to change things. I believe that the work WISH is doing will allow all involved to create a legacy we can all be proud of. Rather than standing by we are part of an organisation challenging gender inequality and the gender pay gap, by encouraging new and existing female talent.

It has given me vital experience which has allowed me to get involved in exciting other positions at a board level in other organisations. It has furthered my skill set around time organization and event running which have become invaluable in my day job.

For me personally WISH has given me confidence and self-worth. Working with an inspiring group of women has allowed me to learn from them. I have been given opportunities that I would not have been able to afford before, with free training from inspirational mentors across the board.

It has expanded my network massively; I have had the opportunity to meet amazing people across the country working within the sector. These interactions have been beneficial to my career.

Being a board member for WISH has been a fantastic chance and allowed me to grow professionally, socially, and personally.
