WISH London Winter Newsletter 2021

WISH London look back on their events and forward to a New Year....

WISH London  Winter Newsletter 2021

It has been an eventful few months having hosted two online events and one live event. It has been a joy to see so many of our members in 2 and 3D.

In June WISH London hosted a national women’s safety event led by our board members Jacqueline and Theresa. At a time that women’s safety is at the forefront of our minds, we felt it was important that as a woman’s networking organisation we provided a space for our members to talk about their own safety at work. We were moved by the open conversations that took place and it was clear many women still feel vulnerable at work. The stories that were shared were familiar and whilst much has changed for women over the years, this is still a subject that needs some focus if we are going to have zero tolerance of sexual harassment in our society.

As anyone reading this will know the WISH mission is to bring equality to the housing sector through helping women build a professional network. We also know that many feel very nervous about networking. Kathryn, Kemi and Alexandra joined forces to stage another national online event in October, an Easy Guide to Networking. We had three excellent speakers taking the audience through the psychology of and the practical steps to networking. Below is some feedback from one of the attendees

“I just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed the networking event last night and everything you said was really inspiring and has given me a lot more confidence so thank you.”

If you want to hear any of the advice from our speakers make your way to the WISH you tube channel WISH National Event: Easy Guide to Networking - October 2021 - YouTube where you can watch the recording from the session.

That brings me to our most recent event hosted by our wonderful sponsors Lovell. It was a live event at Lovell’s new London offices on the 5th floor with a magnificent terrace providing wonderful views over London.  Our London board WISH hosts for this event were Frances and Gill. It was so lovely to see new and more seasoned members all mixing in a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.

So it seems we are back bringing women together live to build their professional network. 2022 will see us taking a blended approach with a few online events but more live events, we hope that you will join us and continue to help us expand your community of professional women.

We have one goodbye as we wish Julianne Hill well as she moves into a new career and steps down from her board role. Julianne you will be missed and thank you for all the support and energy you have dedicated to WISH.
