What's Happening In The North West?

This year we are celebrating five years of WISH in the North West! It hardly seems possible that it's been so long, the time has flown. We have built our network to include colleagues in social landlord organisations, development, maintenance, legal, finance, governance, consultancy and more.

To celebrate our anniversary, the programme for 2017 includes a greater number and a greater variety of events. Much of the information is already on the WISH website (wishgb.co.uk) – more information will follow nearer the time of each event and we publicise our events through Linked In and twitter as well as direct email.

In January, for our first event of 2017, Kevin Williams (@Kev_in_Housing) gave us some great tips about managing our online profiles, including the best time to tweet, how to attract attention with #hashtags and the value of using different social media including Instagram and LinkedIn – and he encouraged us to think about blogging (and not just about housing). Thanks to A Connolly Ltd for hosting the event.

23rd February was our first “social” event of the year. We gathered at Molton Brown in St Ann’s Square, Manchester to enjoy a couple of hours’ exclusive access to the store, including prosecco and sweet nibbles, hand massage and a Molton Brown voucher – and a goody bag to take away.

International Women’s Day saw us hosting a future-gazing event for senior women, promoting WISH as a membership organisation and explaining about corporate memberships. We are grateful to Helen Collins (@HelenCollins12) of Savills for giving her time to speak to us and to Beever & Struthers and Forbes Solicitors for their sponsorship.

Our next event will be on 27th April 2017 – Healthy Communities & Creating Healthy Lifestyles, which will be hosted by IBI at their premises in Didsbury. Our thanks go to Pinnacle for sponsoring this event.

We are indebted to those organisations who have been generous in offering venues for our open events and Regional Board meetings, and to our various sponsors who have demonstrated their support for WISH nationally and regionally. We couldn’t deliver for our members without our supporters and sponsors

We know that these are testing times for housing organisations, however we are pleased that organisations in the North West are continuing to see the value of corporate membership of WISH NW. If you want to know more, please have a look at the website or contact Jacquie Adams, Membership Officer [email protected]
