WISH Chair London


We are looking for a new Chair to provide leadership and support for London region of WISH. WISH (London) is the longest established and largest and region within WISH. It has approximately 150 members and attracting on average 60 people to a WISH event.

The Organisation

The region is currently run by a talented team of 12 women who all have responsibilities for organising, marketing, promoting and funding events as well as responsibility for membership and growth of the region.

There will be assistance and guidance from a senior member of WISH who will remain as your contact at a strategic level. This is a role that someone may grow in to and we can provide Executive Coaching for the individual and the team.

The Role

Clear expectations for the role are provided by the WISH central strategic board annually

1. You will be a member of the strategic board setting goals for WISH annually. This may include piloting some of these ideas within the Region where possible

2. You are to prepare and deliver an agreed Annual Business Plan

3. Participate in one telephone conference meeting once a quarter and one Chairs and Treasurers meeting per year

4. The role in general will have specific requirements including

  • Implementing a Sales and marketing strategy to ensure that happens.
  • Implementing a communic
  • Identifying opportunities for growing the London WISH region i.e. identifying new members and retaining existing
  • Implementing a communications Strategy including social media
  • Responsibility for Income and Expenditure
  • Supporting and promoting central WISH activities such as Women In Housing, Change the Face of Housing (Schools project) and WISH Mentoring
  • Responsibility for the organisation of events

The Candidate

  • We welcome applications from suitable female applicants
  • The time commitment will vary but is estimated to be approx. 7 hours per month
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills with the ability to delegate and get things done
  • Experience of leading a team is important. Serving on a board is an advantage though not essential
