WISH London held another successful event recently, ‘Going Against the Odds in the Built Environment’. The theme was gender inequality and barriers to women entering the construction industry.
Even though the number of women working in construction is growing, men still make up the great majority of the workforce. Only about 14% of construction industry professionals are women at the moment but this number is likely to rise as more women opt to work in the field. Thankfully, stereotypes about gender roles are rapidly eroding.
We had two fantastic and inspiring speakers from the industry: Countryside Partnerships' Chief Executive, Jo Jamieson and L&Q's Group Director of Development & Sales, Vicky Savage. Both addressed the barriers that women often encounter through sharing their personal stories and experiences. They also provided useful strategies for overcoming these challenges and achieving success in the construction profession.
If you missed it, you can check out the recording on our YouTube channel accessed through the WISH website or by clicking here or on the image below.
We would like to thank Countryside for their kind sponsorship of this fantastic event.
