WISH North Wales have hosted their 3rd event of the 2019 – ‘The Optical Illusion of Communication’ The event was sponsored by Aura Leisure & Libraries and took place at Wales & West Housing’s Office space in Ewloe, which was hired out in goodwill for the event.

Guest speaker for the morning NLP & EQ specialist Lynne Williams gave her unique take on communication and why it is often like an optical illusion when attempting to communicate out and receive back ‘the right message’ both professionally and personally.

Lynne brought the subject to life by sharing a series of personal and realistic scenarios which she has encountered over her years as a Mother, Wife and Communications Professional. Lynne’s session provided a huge amount of knowledge and gave everyone an alternative insight to the art of effective communication as a result. Her inspiring and humorous engagement style created a great deal of enthusiasm throughout the room.

I really enjoyed the Communication event with WISH North Wales. Some great Communication techniques learnt; it was all round a very insightful topic. Great audience for the great Lynne Williams too. What a fantastic public speaker. Hats off!” - Leon Kearney, Building Careers UK.

Lynne held some interactive group sessions to focus on understanding our own communicator style and how some styles are more compatible than others, an invaluable skill which helps in understanding the ways in which messages can sometimes be incorrectly received amongst colleagues or a work team. She shared her own personal mechanism of storing a negative communication experience in her mind to revisit as ‘something to think about’ in order to always remain within the boundaries of professional etiquette.

The event was a huge success, we were thrilled to welcome 35 members and friends along to benefit from Lynne’s witty and engaging session on such a key topic to help individuals make an impact in their careers.

"The Communication session was my first WISH event, I am so pleased I took the opportunity to attend. I left the event feeling uplifted, happy and reinvigorated working with my team - I have even involved them with the 'communicator types' test back at the office! All together a fantastic morning. I already can't wait for another event!" - Beverley Loyden, Anwyl Construction

Each WISH North Wales event is tailored by the feedback received from the attendees to ensure we deliver on topics which are contributing to empowering and developing our members. The key message of communication was to understand the diversities amongst your team and appreciate that where one person may receive your message well, others may misunderstand your purpose and it’s about working with these people to help build stronger teams for success.
