WISH North Wales Winter Newsletter

'Since our launch nearly eleven months ago, WISH North Wales has gone from strength to strength. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at all our future events.' The WISH North Wales Board

We’re growing!

Since launching WISHNorth Wales just over eight months ago the region has welcomed over 60 members to our network. We have both corporate and individual members some of which include Grwp Cynefin, Flintshire Council, Conwy Council, Denbighsire Council, Wales and West, Cartrefi Conwy, North Wales Housing, Davis Partnership, Building Careers, Seddon and John McCall Architects and individual members representing C2K Developments, Torus, Care and Repair N.E. Wales to name a few! This is an amazing achievement and truly supports our mission.

Women at the Top

On the 4th of August we gathered at Theatr Clwyd to hear three inspirational women talk candidly about their journeys in their successful careers. Rachel Clacher, Co-Founder & Director of Moneypenny and Founder & Trustee of WeMindTheGap, Helen White, Chair of Regulatory Board for Wales, and our very own board member Clare Budden, Chief Officer of Flintshire Council, discussed the challenges they have faced along the way, what motivates and drives them, the lessons learned on their paths to being recognised as female leaders in their fields and the holy grail – how they achieve a healthy work/life balance!

Great events

Since our launch we have attracted some outstanding speakers and industry experts to lead our events including: Lesley Griffiths talking about her journey and typical day in the Welsh Assembly; Steve Kunwichz and his brilliant and entertaining overview on the do’s and don’ts of social media; John Dalton talking about how to be an effective team member, and who can forget the jelly throwing at Paul Johnson’s brilliant, interactive session on the science of networking!! We hope you have all found the “Go Giver” book a highly interesting read.

We are continuing our commitment to offer a programme that will motivate, en-courage, teach and support every member, expanding and enhancing knowledge and our support network. We really do appreciate your input and if you would like to see a particular topic addressed in future events please let us know

Why Network?

The benefits of networking are endless and as women, we are told do it best! A recent study showed that 22% of women compared to just 2.5% of men will talk about their experiences and share best practice. Women are both gracious and generous in their ability to give and open doors for one another. They want to feel as if they are making an impact by helping to make a difference in their own lives as well as in the lives of others. This is not to say we don’t want to encourage men to our events though – we most certainly do!

Our male supporters positively support equality within our network and WISH would like you to become ambassadors for WISH North Wales by embracing our mission and assisting us in supporting our females in the workplace; your networks and positions in the industry are important to us to ensure our message is taken to all quarters. We also hope we can help you through the positive networking events we hold and the support we provide to all within your careers.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Your WISH board work extremely hard to ensure your membership monies are used in a way that will assist each and every member with their career path. We want to ensure we achieve our mission by inspiring each of you to inspire others. With this in mind we actively network with our corporate members to sponsor our events. The sponsorships also provide the company with an opportunity to profile themselves through the members. If you would like to sponsor any event contact [email protected]

And finally…

We were delighted to be shortlisted for two amazing awards:

* Women In Housing for the Excellence In Career Development category.

* Welsh Housing Awards for the Increasing Equality and Diversity in Housing category.

We are very proud to say we were Highly Commended for Increasing Equality and Diversity in Housing

Keep in Touch, we love to hear from you.
