Become a New Board Member for the WISH London Region

Board Member Recruitment

In our London region we are looking for someone to join our Board and provide extra assistance with administrative tasks. Interested? Read more below…

Women in Social Housing (WISH) is a supportive and inspiring networking community for females working across all disciplines of the UK housing sector. Our purpose is to use networking to promote gender equality and our vision is to support a housing sector in which everyone can flourish.

The WISH community was set up over 25 years ago after it was identified that women were not getting the same opportunities and support as their male peers across the sector. Although times have changed, inequality still remains and the WISH network continues to bring women of all ages and professional levels together to share, support and inspire each other across 10 different regions of the UK.

Our Regional Boards

Each region is managed by a Regional Board of volunteers led by a Chair or Co-Chairs. Regional Boards are made up of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 Board members. Our regional Board members have a range of skills and experience and where possible we aim to have a balance on regional Boards of those who are employed in the private and public sectors.

Our Regional Boards arrange in person and online events to advance our vision. We provide access to expert speakers who share their knowledge and expertise to inspire those who attend. We create a welcoming, inclusive, safe and supportive networking environment. Those who attend leave our events to return to the workplace feeling inspired and happier, with renewed energy and vigour.

We are looking to recruit for a Board Member to join our London Regional Board to specifically provide support and assistance with administrative tasks and we’d love to hear from you if you share our values and are passionate about gender equality and the value of networking.

The role is without remuneration, the reward comes from being a part of the positive difference WISH makes. You will work closely and collaboratively with fellow Regional Board members to:

  • Organise events,
  • Promote activities across social media platforms,
  • Increase WISH membership by actively interacting with organisations and businesses in the social housing sector,
  • Attend and participate in Regional Board meetings.

The time required is flexible. The Board work together as a team to provide support for each other.

Interested in Applying?

To apply, please submit a supporting statement explaining why you are interested in this role and why you are a great candidate. This statement can be submitted either in writing or you can choose to send a video statement. Please submit your statement to [email protected]

Applications should be received by 13 June 2023.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role and/or WISH, please get in touch at the email address above to arrange a chat. To find more information about WISH please visit our website https://www.wishgb.co.uk/
