Head of Financial Control


Following a recent change programme, Magenta Living has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, qualified and enthusiastic Head of Financial Control to join their busy Finance Team.

Following a recent change programme, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, qualified and enthusiastic Head of Financial Control to join our busy Finance Team. This is a 37 hour per week full time role based within Magenta Living’s head office in Birkenhead.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Finance and Resources you will be responsible for developing financial processes and controls whilst managing and developing a high performing Finance Team. The role will be instrumental in ensuring that we are providing high quality financial information to all areas of the business.

You will be managing a team of twelve finance colleagues covering ledger control and management accountancy. Your ability to manage and develop a finance team is critical. Exposure to dealing with senior management and challenging is essential and you will need to be prepared to be “hands on” and communicate well with different departments across the business.

The overall purpose of the role will be :   

  • The production of timely and accurate management accounts and regular financial performance reporting.
  • Supervision and development of Ledger Control teams responsible for invoice processing and debt raising.
  • Lead on the operation of the payment system and the operation of the system for the collection of sundry debt income.
  • Responsible for the effective management of all balance sheet and ledger control functions, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Provide a core service of accurate and efficient ledger control.
  • To develop a rent and service charge accounting function to support the operational teams, business planning and the finance business partners.

To be successful in your application you will need to be CCAB qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience and be able to evidence strong business reporting capabilities. This will include experience in improving and developing financial reporting and management accounting activities.

Equally important will be your strong team management experience and your ability to develop a growing financial team to support operations that are going through change. You will lead your team to be responsive to tight deadlines and fully embrace a business partnering ethos.

Alongside this you will have the ability to present and discuss financial information with senior management in an engaging manner, and a practical approach to designing processes and interacting with stakeholders. Your technical skills will include advanced knowledge of Excel and the ability to manipulate financial data from financial software packages (we use OPEN accounts).
