Empowering Women in Social Housing: Highlights from WISH Midlands Events

Over the past few weeks, WISH Midlands has been bustling with activity, hosting engaging events that have left a lasting impact on attendees. From discussions on women in technology to leadership with confidence, these gatherings have fostered connections, shared insights, and inspired empowerment within the social housing sector.

One standout event was the Women in Tech session, where industry experts gathered to explore the importance of inclusion in the workplace. Naomi Dobraszczyc from Nottingham Community Housing Association delivered a powerful message about the centrality of inclusion, setting the tone for the evening. Joined by esteemed panelists Celia Warrender, Ciara McMillan, and Vic Askey, the event sparked lively conversations about the future of technology in social housing.

Celia Warrender shared her journey of overcoming barriers with mentorship, highlighting the power of support in pursuing digital leadership. Vic Askey emphasized the need for a broad approach to housing challenges, underscoring the role of technology in shaping the sector's future. Ciara McMillan shed light on the opportunities presented by low code/no code applications, offering a pathway for women to leverage their skills in digital roles.

Another event, "Leading with Confidence," featured a panel chaired by Tracey McEachran and insights from Jill Murry, Elly Hoult, and Susmita Sen. Their stories resonated with over 40 attendees, offering valuable takeaways on building self-confidence and embracing leadership roles.

Welcoming Hannah Satchwell as the newest board member added another layer of inspiration to the WISH Midlands team. Hannah's insightful blog post on self-confidence and empowerment sets a positive tone for future endeavors.
