WISH North East News Spring 2023

We were delighted to see so many of you at our 'Breaking the glass ceiling’ IWD 2023 event

WISH North East Spring News 2023

We were delighted to host a fabulous International Women’s Day event on Thursday 2nd March at Revolución de Cuba in Newcastle.

The goal of our ‘Breaking the Glass Ceiling’ event was to open up new doors and help more democratic women from diverse backgrounds take their seats at the table. Motivational tips, tools and practical solutions were shared around how to break self-limiting beliefs and how to overcome adversity.

We had a wonderful selection of speakers who shared their stories and insights on making the most of your career. Thank you to our panel Ngozi Lyn Cole, Ruth Young, Chi Onwurah and to the North East WISH Board for their organisation.

Those who attended said:

“Such an inspirational event, thank you!”

“It was brilliant, so inspiring and great to be in the room with such a wonderful crowd.”

The WISH North East board have been squirrelling away over recent weeks, working on their events programme for the year ahead in response to the member survey. Hot topics for 2023 for the North East are how you can build a successful career and network whilst working from home, SEXISM - how is it still at thing in 2023!, and the cost of childcare and gender pay gap.

The North East are also recruiting new board members and have had an influx of enquiries so watch this space for announcements on new people joining the board too. And a huge thank you and farewell to Sona Kaur and Laura Wood who have come to the end of their time on the board.
