WISH South West Spring News 2023

WISH South West News 2023

A particularly personal event for many, our South West region started its Health and Wellbeing Journeys in the Workplace campaign by talking about endometriosis.  Not only for International Women’s Day but also Endometriosis Awareness Month, it’s believed that shared experiences can help to overcome the challenges we face.  Not everyone works in an organisation where these conversations are had but together, it’s hoped we can encourage employers to become more inclusive.

It was a very well attended online event at which we were lucky enough to have some excellent speakers.  Hosted by Claudia Esseen-Jayes, of the National Housing Federation and a board member of WISH SW, the panel comprised Heidi Yule of Endometriosis UK and Sinead Lee, Associate Director at 4i Solutions and Chair of WISH SW, who shared her own experiences of living with the condition.

In the UK, around 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth are currently living with the condition, regardless of race or ethnicity. Endometriosis can affect you from puberty to menopause, although the impact may be felt for life.

We’d like to thank TristoneNash who kindly sponsored this event which enabled a donation to be made to Endometriosis UK to support the valuable work they do.
